African Tracks 4×4 Car Hire is a family owned business and has been operating for 26 years under the careful guidance of Johan and Wiebke Nel. Now our daughter, Celine, along with her partner, Pieter, has joined the adventure. We are proudly born and raised Namibians and our love for camping has been in our family for many years. We have travelled Namibia, the Caprivi, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania over the years and experienced some wonderful and exciting places. We can offer first-hand advice to our clients and our knowledge will help you have a safe journey.

We have been booking vehicles with African Tracks for over 15 years. We often travel with it in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Very reliable, helpful and fair! Any damage to the vehicle was always dealt with very fairly and honestly. When a vehicle was damaged in the middle of the Kalahari, Botswana, we were helped with a replacement vehicle in a very short time. In addition, the employees are always available via telephone and WhatsApp. Thanks to the African Tracks team!

We rented a double cabin for three weeks. Car was in very good condition, we took everything (fridge, camping gear etc.) for a very good offer. They explained everything about tyre pressure and difficult roads (like Sossusvlei) when handing over the car. Service when giving the car back was great, even though we had damaged the bumper. Very recommendable, nice team, fluent in German if necessary. Anytime again.

I am currently planning a new trip to Namibia and Botswana and for the sixth time in a row I am about to rent a vehicle at African Tracks. Since my first journey in 1996, I have been back to Namibia and Botswana in years 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2013 driving each time many kilometers in this part of Africa. Until now, I have never encounter any technical issue with their vehicles. These vehicles, always in perfect conditions, were very well equipped for camping and made possible to drive across every types of areas (sand, mud...). Both for the booking process and for taking over the vehicle, The African Tracks' team is at its best ! For all these reasons, I do recomand African Tracks car hire company.

Wir haben bei African Tracks einen Hilux mit einem Dachzelt für insgesamt zwei Monate gemietet. Die Vorbereitung über mail als auch vor Ort hat alles super geklappt. Das Auto kam frisch von der Wartung und machte einen sehr guten Eindruck. Der Kilometerstand bei Abholung war bei 89000 km. Als wir ihn wieder abgaben hatten wir mehr als 10000 km hinzugefügt. Der Wagen lief zuverlässig und die mitgelieferten Ausrüstungsgegenstände wie Dachzelt und Campingausrüstung waren vollständig und in einem einwandfreien Zustand. African Tracks war zu jeder Zeit erreichbar und stand mit Rat und Tat zur Seite! Gerne wieder!

In May 2022 we drove through Namibia and Botswana for the second time for 19 days with a Toyota Hilux from African Tracks. The employees are super friendly, explain the vehicle very well when it is handed over and are always available if you have any questions. We had problems with the battery but the staff took care of the replacement straight away, we didn't even have to interrupt our vacation for it as the mechanic came to our hotel. Otherwise the car was great. The heavy duty tires were great too, so we didn't have to change tires. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable and we will always book our car with African Tracks for our Namibia tour in the future.

Everything was great, from the first contact to the vehicle and employees. They are really experienced in this business and you feel that. Their cars are adequately equipped for 4x4 trip. When I had an accident and damaged the car, they charged me adequately which I claimed from my own insurance later on. Definitely recommended and would rent with them again!

Great value for money! This car rental company is cheaper than the competition, and still the service is great. Very reactive and helpful people. When there’s a problem there’s a solution. Also the tyres were in a very good condition which was far from being the case for all the cars we saw on the road from other agencies. We would thus highly recommend this agency.

We rented a Toyota Hilux with a roof tent for a ten-week trip through Namibia, Botswana and South Africa.

Celine and Peter gave us a very friendly welcome, handed us an almost new car, and explained everything we needed to know. The price-performance ratio is fantastic. Celine and Peter are extremely flexible, friendly, and helpful. Peter was on the entire teip available to us 24/7 and helped us competently with any problems. The handover of the car in Cape Town also went exactly as planned.
